We left Waterloo and stayed south of the canal to avoid traffic then joined Route 89 North. This was a hilly but manageable route through attractive countryside. See the pictures of a farm below. We joined bicycle route 5 heading to Syracuse. Along the way we passed an Organic Farm and then crossed a plain where an airborne crop duster was spraying potatoes. We picked up pieces of trail alternating between bicycle route 5 and the trail.
At Jordan we hit the worst section of trail to date, completely cut up by horses. We left that trail at the first opportunity and rejoined nearer to Syracuse.
After an Ice Cream stop we used the West and East trails to arrive at Liverpool and our B&B for the night.
