Wet day, two lots of very heavy rain, two flats.
The day started OK, I arranged a van to take Susan and Sandra to the beginning of the trail while Ron and I rode from Liverpool to the start of the trail. I did not find a reason for the first flat and replaced the tube. Just as the rain started I had a second flat, this time Ron found the piece of glass that was causing the problem.
We took shelter in an Italian Restaurant and had lunch. The rain let up a little but the trail was hard going so we took to the road. Rome was a major problem because of the second heavy rainstorm. Finally we were on the right road to Utica.
I had mis-measured the distance by 10 miles and the directions to the B&B were not very clear. After asking directions at a Dunkin Donuts and then a couple of phone calls 4 wet, bedraggled cyclists made it to Iris Stone House B&B
