We were looking for good coffee and a healthy snack. We found both and more, quality lunch and evening meals.
Highly recommended.

Excellent accomodations and great breakfast of local sausage, pancakes and local maple syrup. Adjacent to the B&B is a very well equipped bike shop.  This B&B is immediately adjacent the trail, highly recommended.

Oakhurst Tea Room

This boasts a Famous Smorgasbord & Dessert Table it is well worth the visit if you have transport available. Tea Room is an understatement, it has extensive seating areas.

When we set up this B&B, George told us to call him at the bike shop on the trail. This was our longest leg at just under 50 miles. When we arrived at the bike shop, it was closed (Monday). We called George and he arrived promptly accompanied by Joe with his pickup truck to take the Catrike and the Nomad.

The B&B is run by George and Diana, they are two of the most generous people you will ever meet. As an example, I had planned to ride back the 50 miles to Rockwood and pick up my car, George insisted on driving me back and then leading us back to Leisenring. George was very concerned at me leaving my car at the trail head, out of state licence plates and thoughts of vandalism or worse, I accepted the offer to leave my car at the B&B and then pick me up on my return.

Nice touches included lemonade in the 'fridge on our arrival, cookies and fruit!

George's mantra is Customer Service and George and Diana live it.
You must stay here! Thank-you again George and Diana.

Food Etc.

Connellsville is a larger town and has the standard amenities, Wendy's, Sheetz, KFC, etc. Nothing special of node.

MaryJo runs a delightful studio B&B which is adjacent the trail. This was a shorter ride of only 26 miles and we arrived before noon. After calling MaryJo to say we had arrived I unhitched the Nomad and headed back to Connellsville to pick up my car from George's place. Highly Recommended

While I was away, Sandra found that the local bike shop also offered a shuttle service and they will shuttle to Cumberland. Two day notice is requested if you wish to take advantage of this service.

Food Etc.

We ate at a deli next to the bike shop, massive portions of good quality food.

The rest of West Newton appeared to have shut down for the Winter and gone home. A large number of services are advertised, while we were not specifically looking we did not see much evidence of services.

Summary

Other than the ever present freight train whistles at our trail side accomodations, this was an outstanding trip. If you plan to ride from Cumberland please do not underestimate the grade. It is a continuous slog, all the way to the Savage Tunnel, our average speed over this section was approximately 6 mph. I would recommend stopping at Frostburg and then Rockwood.
